Many couples are looking forward to planning their wedding and are looking for something a little different, a destination wedding, but where will you go? A beach or large cosmopolitan city? We all have our ideas of what is our perfect wedding, however, where do you choose? Whether you decide on the glamour and sophistication of the City or the more laid-back easy-going vibe of the beach, deciding on your location is the “biggie” when deciding how you´ll celebrate your big day. So, let’s look at the pros and cons for beach or city ceremony!

Beach Wedding!
A beach wedding can be amazing, clear blue skies, lashings of sunshine, the feel of the sand between your toes, and the surf quietly calling to you as it laps against the shore. Stunning sunsets and photographs to make all your friends and family glow green with envy! What´s not to love!
The Pros!
Sunrise or Sunset, both are a fantastic time to say your vows, the early morning light at sunrise followed by a sumptuous breakfast picnic for two, or at sunset catching the last glimmers of light as you kiss for the first time as a wedded couple. Sunset has what photographers call the ¨golden hour¨, this is the time when the light is just perfect and their photographs are just, well they are amazing!
The beach makes you feel both alive and at peace within, at one with nature, not a care in the world. What a wonderful stress free and relaxing way to enjoy your day. Your friends and family will also enjoy the warmth of the sunshine as they watch you walk down to the surf, and could make a holiday of it for themselves, after all why not?
The Cons!
A cool balmy breeze is lovely as your guests sit in the afternoon sun, but if that breeze gets up and becomes wind whipping up that sand, then it can become very uncomfortable, so chat with your planner and find out the best month and time of day to hold your beach ceremony!
A beach wedding is always dependent upon the weather, which is fine in Spain where I live as we have over 300 days sunshine per year however, always remember, time and tide wait for no man, so do watch out for where those tides roll up to, ensure you and your guests remain safe! Again, your planner will know all the best and safe beaches wherever you are in the world.
It’s hard to walk elegantly on the beach at the best of times, so forget your Jimmy Choo’s, the sand will get everywhere and heels …, well they are a no no!
Flippy floppy shoes or open leather sandals are a must! At the height of Summer, the sand is hot, and you will need to wear something to protect your feet from burning. So, get yourself some blingy flippy floppy shoes, save your heels for the evening!

So, what about a city wedding?
Well, first things first, a city wedding has a lot to offer! Beautiful small boutique hotels as well as the larger more luxurious hotels. Michelin starred restaurants in cities such as Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Rhonda as well as Paris and Rome, not forgetting the bars, art galleries and theatres, there is so much to help give your day that pizzazz you are looking for and for you to do in the days running up to and after your wedding day. So, what about a city wedding, is it for you?

Pros!
Cities such as Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Rhonda as well as Paris and Rome (yes I am unashamedly biased towards Spain but other cities are available!), are full of history and some very beautiful buildings, and in the older parts of these towns you will find historic buildings such as La Alhambra in Granada, and the Alcazaba in Malaga both of which are fabulous for photographs.
Cons!
You may be thinking more along the lines of the rustic lux vibe, with fewer people and not so built up which in the height of Summer can be busy, busy, busy! Big cities tend to be more expensive so, if you are on a tight budget you will need to factor that in.

So, rather than a beach or city ceremony, what f you want both it is possible? Yes it is, you heard me, Malaga has beautiful beaches by day and a wonderful party vibe by night! So, if you want the best of both worlds, head to Malaga!
You could also consider hiring a large villa near a beach and close to a town which will also give you the best of both worlds so now, all that´s left is to decide what you´ll do, will it be a beach or city wedding?
Where ever you decide to hold your wedding ceremony, and whether you decide on a beach or a city ceremony, I am sure you will have a fantastic day. If you would like to know more about how to have a fantastic ceremony then contact me here!
