What being a Celebrant involves and what it means to me!  I always say I have the best job in the world!  I get to work with people who choose me. I get to celebrate one of the most important milestones of your lives with you. I get to know all about you, what you like, and dislike and what you want most out of your ceremony. I get to work with some amazing couples who love words and want them to be just right on the day.  What`s not to love!

Meaning!

“Celebrant” meaning quite literally, a person who leads a celebration. Whether it be a wedding, a funeral, or any other celebration where a group of people come together.  The Celebrant will write and lead the ceremony.  As a Celebrant I get to work with some of the most creative people. Wedding planners and stylists who work together to find, style and create the perfect venue and backdrop for your ceremony.  A slice of paradise where you will celebrate your love for one another. They ensure you have the perfect place for your after party to dance the night away with family and friends.

The Role of a Celebrant!

The role of a celebrant, the part I play in your special day, is to get to know you. To find out how and where you met. Who said those three magic words first and where you said them!  I want to know what you want out of life, what the wedding and spending the rest of your lives together, means to you.  Then I write a beautiful ceremony just for you. And even though I wrote it, yes, my eyes so still tear up on the day as I finally get to watch you come together and exchange your vows with one another.  Although, I do always have a handkerchief at the ready, as well as wear waterproof mascara!

Lights, camera, action!

Once the ceremony is written, my role does not stop there! I work together as part of a team with all those involved in your wedding day. So when we say lights, camera, action, everything runs smoothly.  We work together to ensure all of us, the planner, musicians, photographer and videographer, know what will happen and when. I prepare an order of service and everyone gets a copy.  They know what time the ceremony will start, when the music needs to start, and the photographer will know where you will be standing throughout the ceremony to enable him or her to get the best shots of you without me being in the way!  So, lights, camera, action, and as the ceremony starts, I get to guide you every step of the way, so you´ll not have to worry what to do next!

Of course, weddings hardly ever always go perfectly to plan!  The weather has a major role to play. I was once asked to step in last minute to do a beautiful beach wedding.  It was the middle of Summer and even so, the wind picked up, and boy did it whistle along that beach!  Whilst others were jumping into action and setting up plan B,  I was able to spend a few minutes with the couple putting their minds at rest.  I was there for them, one of the most important reasons I became a Celebrant, was to be there for people, to look after them, – such an intimate moment.  The last thing you want on a wedding day is tears for the wrong reason!  This is what being a Celebrant involves!

My Mission!

I am often called Aunty Wendy. Why? Because I am a good listener and friends know they can come to me for advice and support. And they do, quite often!  As a Celebrant, I have the special honour of leading wedding ceremonies.  This can be stressful at times however, I love doing it. My mission is to ensure you have the best wedding ceremony you can, and that it says just what you want it to.  I am there to guide and support you. It’s my role to take the stress out of the ceremony, so you can get on with enjoying yourselves.  This is why I say I have the best job in the world, because I help couples to make memories that will live on for years to come, this is what being a Celebrant involves.
