Spain is a fabulous place to hold your 5* wedding, and Malaga is one of my favourites. It’s an amazing Mediterranean city and seaport dating back millennia. It’ll not surprise you to hear there are many 5* wedding venues in Malaga alongside the many stunning historical buildings. In the city centre lie the ruins of a Roman theatre situated alongside a Moorish castle built on a hill overlooking the city. It’s a long walk up but well worth it and the restaurant right at the top is amazing! Close by lies the beautiful baroque cathedral surrounded by many great restaurants and tapas bars. Just a 5-10-minute walk, and you are at the port which is the destination for many cruise ships from all around the world. With designer shops, some amazing restaurants and a beautiful sandy beach, you will find everything you need for a wedding in Spain.
So, in no particular order, here are 3 of my top 5* wedding venues in Malaga, one in the City and two a little further out. Whether you want city life and night lights, golf or gardens and relaxation, you will love these.
Gran Hotel Miramar Spa Malaga
Opened in 1926 the Gran Hotel Miramar has gone through many transitions. A field hospital in 1936, later a Palace of Justice and then in 2016 it was completely revamped into the luxurious hotel it is today. It’s one of my favourite places to stay. They offer a complete wedding service and have beautiful gardens for an outdoor wedding. The grand entrance hall and the amazing staircase leading down to the pool are fabulous places for photographs.
The restaurants are great, the rooms are spacious, some with their own outside jacuzzi overlooking the beach, and can even arrange childcare should you or your guests need it.
I always get a room overlooking the sea as in the summer you get the evening whisper of a breeze flowing into your room. The Spa is the perfect place for you and your wedding party to relax and prepare for your wedding day, just be sure to book everything well in advance so as not to miss out on your treatments.

Hacienda San Jose
The Hacienda San Jose is a great find not only is it a short drive from Malaga airport, it’s in Mijas which is one of my favourite places to spend a day at the beach. The night life of Marbella is not too far down the road so you have the best of both worlds.
The Hacienda has beautiful lawns and several areas you can choose to hold your ceremony, depending on the size of your party. You can be in the shade or in the sunshine, the choice is yours to make. You can hire it for the day or you can take advantage of its beautiful setting, the swimming pool and secluded surroundings and have it for 3-4 days.
The Hacienda is beautifully secluded and can cater for up to 200 people. They work with some of the top wedding planners in Malaga as well as very highly recommended caterers. Many couples take the Hacienda for 3-4 days so they can relax before their big day and then have a lunch party with their guests the day after before they go off on their honeymoon. One of my favourite Hacidendas, it has beautiful nooks and crannies perfect for those intimate after-ceremony photographs!

La Cala Golf Resort and Spa
Another great favourite of mine and if you love golf, this is not to be missed. They have three golf courses and a Spa you will not want to leave. They have an ice room where crushed ice falls from the ceiling and yes it’s cold! I used it once and was not brave enough to go in there a second time!
The Spa pool outside overlooks the green hills of the courses, all you can see is greenery and all you can hear is the peace and quiet. The therapy rooms in the spa are second to none and I highly recommend a relaxing back massage followed by a snooze in the tepidarium.
The wedding pagoda at La Cala is on a hill overlooking the golf course and is the perfect place for a late afternoon wedding.

These are three of my favourite 5* wedding destinations in Malaga. All provide great service and amenities, fabulous surroundings and cater to your every need. All you have to do is decide what you like, City, Beach, Golf, Gardens, these have it all in one way or another!
I live an hour from Malaga by car and hand on heart, it is one of my most favourite cities as it offers so much, but don’t just take my word for it, come and visit, we would love to have you and your wedding party join us for your wedding day. Wherever you decide to hold your wedding, I wish you every happiness as you start your journey as a married couple.
Love n Hugs
Wendy
